5 reasons why this weekend was massive for Arsenal

1. Manchester City dropped points again for the second week running:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 And they did it in style too, missing two penalty kicks during the game. DeBruyne missed one, and Aguero missed the other. I hope that shatters their confidence and takes them into a deep slump that they recover from in February and end up scrapping for fourth place with Manchester United and Chelsea… Not likely, but it’s my wish, go get yours.

And oh… Spurs also dropped points. I actually predicted that both Spurs and Man city were likely not to win. See it here. Spurs remain the only team that is unbeaten this season and somehow, they’ve still found a way to be below us on the table.

2. We are (joint) top of the league:

So after a slow start, we’ve crawled our way into 1st position, joint with man city, who lead us on goal difference by a single goal. I think we are on the rise though and with Middlesbrough and Sunderland as the next items on our menu, I know we can keep this winning run going.

3. Our mid-week Champions league tie:

I won’t say we have an easy tie in midweek, because history has thought us that football is full of surprises, but it would equally be a massive surprise if we fail to beat Ludogorets at the Emirate come Wednesday.

The manager should be able to rest some players who looked jaded yesterday towards the end, like Sanchez, and Koscielny, while giving the likes of Lucas Peres, Chamberlain, and Elneny a run out.

4. Coquelin is back:

He may not seem like much, but in the 22 minutes he was on the field, he completed 100% (4/4) of his tackles. By comparism, in 70 minutes of play, Xhaka only managed a 67% (2/3) tackle success rate. Xhaka also made 1 error that led to a goal for the opposition, and finally got sent off for a technical fou. Should have been a yellow card by any standasr, byut it just wasn’t his day.

5. And finally, Walcott is on fire:

He’s proving his doubters wrong this season with impressive performance after impressive performance. Yes he missed two sitters at the end, but he bragged a brace and that went a long way to helping us secure the win. Man of The Match for me.

In summary, we’re on a very good run. Hopefully the little scare Swansea gave us towards the end will remind the players to keep their heads down and remain humble. We haven’t won anything yet.
