A match in which the two goalkeepers end up as the best performers on the day usually results in a 0-0 draw and this one was no different.
A tired looking Arsenal side failed to move the ball quick enough to break down a resolute Middlesbrough side.
Here’s how I think the players rated:
Petr Cech: 8/10- Made some very good saves that saved us the humiliation and disappointment of defeat. Excellent performance.
Hector Bellerin: 7/10- Felt he had a very good game defensively and played his part going forward…
Shkodran Mustafi: 6/10- Had some shaky moments.
Laurent Koscielny: 6.5/10- I still think he needs a full one week break. Hopefully he will be back to his best against Sunderland.
Nacho Monreal: 6/10- Not hitting the heights he reached last season and opponents tend to prefer attacking from his side rather than Bellerin’s side.
Francis Coquelin: 6.5/10- he played his part well but is certainly lacking in creativity but we already knew that.
Mohammed Elneny: 6/10- has come under unfair fire from fans after a subdued, performance. He is more defensive than attacking to my thinking and should be played in place of Coquelin when required and not along side him.
Ozil: 5/10- After a great midweek performance, how he crashed to such a poor showing can only be due to fatigue. Needs a rest.
Iwobi: 5.5/10- Also had uncharacteristically quiet game.
Walcott: 6.5/10- I felt he was quite lively for most of the game but just couldn’t really make anything happen. Didn’t vanish though.
Sanchez: 6/10- Not good enough and he looks fatigued as well… really needs a rest.
No notable impact from the bench so I won’t even rate them.
Today we face Reading in the EFL cup… Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways ahead of a very important game at the weekend against Sunderland.
