Arsenal vs Middlesbrough Civilized Player Ratings

ozil

A match in which the two goalkeepers end up as the best performers on the day usually results in a 0-0 draw and this one was no different.

A tired looking Arsenal side failed to move the ball quick enough to break down a resolute Middlesbrough side.

Here’s how I think the players rated:

Petr Cech: 8/10- Made some very good saves that saved us the humiliation and disappointment of defeat. Excellent performance.

Hector Bellerin: 7/10- Felt he had a very good game defensively and played his part going forward…

Shkodran Mustafi: 6/10- Had some shaky moments.

Laurent Koscielny: 6.5/10- I still think he needs a full one week break. Hopefully he will be back to his best against Sunderland.

Nacho Monreal: 6/10- Not hitting the heights he reached last season and opponents tend to prefer attacking from his side rather than Bellerin’s side.

Francis Coquelin: 6.5/10- he played his part well but is certainly lacking in creativity but we already knew that.

Mohammed Elneny: 6/10- has come under unfair fire from fans after a subdued, performance. He is more defensive than attacking to my thinking and should be played in place of Coquelin when required and not along side him.

Ozil: 5/10- After a great midweek performance, how he crashed to such a poor showing can only be due to fatigue. Needs a rest.

Iwobi: 5.5/10- Also had uncharacteristically quiet game.

Walcott: 6.5/10- I felt he was quite lively for most of the game but just couldn’t really make anything happen. Didn’t vanish though.

Sanchez: 6/10- Not good enough and he looks fatigued as well… really needs a rest.

SUBS:

No notable impact from the bench so I won’t even rate them.

Today we face Reading in the EFL cup… Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways ahead of a very important game at the weekend against Sunderland.

Arsenal vs Ludogorets civilized player ratings

mesut-ozil

Arsenal smashed Ludogorets to bits earlier tonight, in what seemed at times like a training ground drill.

The away team weren’t particularly bad as they showed some clever combinations and created some great chances but Ospina was once again in amazing form, and showed just why Wenger trusts him so much.

Here is how i think the players rated:

David Ospina: 8.5/10– He made two incredible saves in this game. Both were one on one chances for the opposition, and another goal keeper could have easily gotten sent off in those circumstances. He kept his cool however and made the  perfect decision in both cases.

Hector Bellerin: 8/10– A tireless and solid performance from the young Spaniard. There was little or no threat from his wing and he supported brilliantly in attack. he’s wonderful.

Shkodran Mustafi: 7/10– Defended very well, but also had some shaky moments… some misunderstanding between him and Koscielny presented Ludogorets with very decent chances, but overall, a good day at the office.

Laurent Koscielny: 7.5/10– I felt he had a slightly better game than Mustafi but also had some shaky moments… i really think he needs a rest.

Kieran gibbs: 7/10– This was his first start in a while, and he still put in a decent showing… Was exposed at times at the back but that was mainly due to little support from the OX. Decent effort indeed.

Francis Coquelin: 8/10– we have missed him badly… he got stuck in, broke up play, intercepted passes, won the ball, and even gave some really decent passes. He did it all today.

santi cazorrl: 7/10– kept it tidy in midfield…. another player that badly needs a rest. He gave the assist for Ozil’s first goal.

Mesut Ozil: 9.5/10– Like a sweet song, he drifted through my heart, and played over and over, and over again. His hat-trick was as beautiful as it gets. he also had time to get an assist for Walcott’s goal. what a wonderful, wonderful footballer.

Theo Walcott: 8/10– Was brilliant again. He showed a real desperation to make a difference, and his wonderful strike that made it 2-0 was well deserved compensation for his efforts. This is the version of Walcott we’ve always wanted.

Alexis Sanchez: 8/10– Our very own superman… scored a goal that could be contender for best goal of the season, and generally worked hard. He’s a gem.

Oxlade Chamberlain: 7/10– Showed some moments of brilliance, but generally drifted in and out of the game. Scored a goal and assisted another so you can say that he had a good game.

SUBS:

Elneny: 6/10– Came on and did a good job in midfield

Perez: 7/10– He is really quick… what a decent option to bring in when the opposition is tired. Showed some great qualities today in his pace, and ability to pick out a pass, highlighted by his pass to Ozil for his third goal. Got two assists in his short time on the field.

Iwobi: Not on long enough to rate.

SUMMARY:

The scoreline says it all. Arsenal 6-0 Ludogorets. I predicted 4-0 but hey, i’m certainly not complaining.

Now where’s my beer………….
