Auba and Laca can and will play together

The debate rages on…

It’s funny. Aubameyang has been an Arsenal player for less than a week, and so much has already been written, said, and even concluded on what this means for Lacazette. Most of which spell bad news for the French man.

Most people seem to think that he has become a peripheral member of the team, a second option, a bench-warmer, a “Giroud”.

First i’d just like to say let’s all calm the f**k down.

Its only been one game…

Signing Aubameyang was a statement. Some say it was a panic buy but who cares. This is a player Barca wanted in the summer and couldn’t get because Dortmund refused to sell then. Somehow we managed to do it 6 months later. It still feels unreal that we have him. That said, I don’t think for one second that Wenger is planning to keep his other 50 million pound striker on the bench indefinitely.

Leaving him out for one game is just not enough reason to draw that conclusion folks.

Laca will play alongside Auba. Wenger has used 4-4-2 in the past and will use it again.

Don’t forget Laca so soon…

It seems Arsenal fans have forgotten why they were so excited in the summer over Lacazette’s arrival. Here’s a quick reminder of the heights he reached in his last three seasons at Lyon:

2014/2015 season;

33 games – 27 goals and 6 assists.

2015/2016 season;

34 games – 21 goals and 3 assists

2016/2017 season;

30 games – 28 goals and 3 assists

These numbers are not a joke. The consistency over three seasons are also not  joke.

Auba is an upgrade…

That said, i recognise that Aubameyang is a better overall striker. He’s quicker and stronger. But finishing wise, I believe they are equals.

So what next…

What do you do when you have two great goal-scorers? You play them both.

Remember Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole?

Aguero and Edin Dzeko/ Jovetic/ Negredo

Henry and Bergkamp

4-4-2 works. We’ve seen it in the past. Yes i know it’s no longer popular, but you adapt your formation to the players you have, and not the other way around.

This is an example of what i’m talking about…

I’m not a football manager and I don’t presume to insist that i’m absolutely right on this, but all i’m saying is that Wenger should consider this approach and find a way to make it work, because I am truly convinced that we would be far more dominant and scary with our two mecurial strikers playing together.

Let me know what you think in the comments section…

Breaking: Arsenal will announce Aubameyang soon

Almost at the finish line…

Arsenal will announce the arrival of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the end of the day [Monday 29 January], according to latest reports from Germany.

After seeing two offers rejected by the Bundesliga club last week, Arsenal have now seen a €63m (£55.4m) offer accepted for the striker, who has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Aubameyang has agreed to a £180,000-a-week deal until 2021 that will see him reunited at the Emirates with former Dortmund teammate Henrik Mkhitaryan, who arrived at the club from Manchester United last week after a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez.

With a fee and personal terms settled, Bild now report Aubameyang’s arrival in north London will be confirmed by close of play on Monday.

Arsenal were initially reluctant to shatter their club record transfer fee for the second time in seven months, following Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival from Lyon last summer. But after Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc made it clear the club would not lower their demands for the 28-year-old, the Gunners have agreed to pay up just days before the January transfer window closes.
