Coquelin is fantastic, who needs Kante… as Arsenal top champions league table

7 points from three games, scoring 9 and conceding just one goal is not a bad return at all.

We are topping group A now on goal difference, having gotten a draw in France against PSG.

The game  at the Emirates between us and PSG will probably be the one that determines who wins the group, and who comes second.

Looking at the Ludogorets game in isolation, it’s difficult not to pick at least five players that were absolutely fantastic, namely; Ozil, Sanchez, Chamberlain, Walcott, and Coquelin. But for me, one man deserves some special praise and it’s not Mesut Ozil… Its seamless Francis Coquelin.

Just look at his Stats:

Passing accuracy: 92.7%(of 55 total passes)- 2nd in the team behind only Koscielny(92.9% from 42 total passes)

Key Passes: 1- 5 players had more, but it’s not really his job.

Total tackles: 9- Led all Arsenal  players

Interceptions: 6- Led all Arsenal  players

Touches:  74- Joint highest in the team with Mesut Ozil

If these stats are not proof that Coquelin is the answer to our defensive midfield problems, then i don’t know what is.

He has continued from where he stopped last season from a form point of view, and i’m so pleased to see that he is making it at Arsenal. He is now one of our key players.

He harries opposition players into making errors, and generally gets in their faces. He is always busy, and is hardly ever caught ball watching. Thank God for Coquelin… Who needs Kante?

So it was a wonderful night at the Emirates, and the fans were treated to some thrilling football. We’ve loved every moment of the past two months, long may it continue.

My feeling is that as long as we keep our best players fit, there is no limit to what we can achieve this season. The confidence is sky-high, the football is great, and the goals are not lacking. Not to mention that we’ve kept 5 clean sheets in our last 6 games in all competitions.

Mustafi has also been a great signing i must say.

Let’s keep things running smoothly and win the league this season… Its certainly within our capabilities.

Michael Owen adds negative spin to Ozil’s performance vs Ludogorets?

Michael Owen wants to see Mesut Ozil deliver in the “massive games” for Arsenal after the German’s brilliant hat-trick in Wednesday’s 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets.

Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all got on the scoresheet to put the Gunners in control of the Champions League Group A game at The Emirates.

Ozil then hit the first hat-trick of his career to add gloss to the scoreline and help Arsene Wenger’s men take a step closer towards the knockout phase of Europe’s elite club competition.

And although former Liverpool star Owen was happy to give Ozil credit for his performance, the former Liverpool striker wants to see him perform on a more regular basis for the Gunners.

Speaking on BT Sport after the final whistle, Owen said: “He’s a lovely footballer to watch, he’s silky.

“You don’t want to have a go at anyone after a performance like this [but] I’d love to see him really grip big games.

“He can perform, we know he can score goals, [but] I want to see him do it in a massive game, one of the big Premier League or Champions League encounters.

“But of course he is a world class player on his day.”

Arsenal now turn their attentions back to the Premier League and their home clash with Middlesbrough at The Emirates this weekend.

The north London side have won their last six games in the top flight to leave them level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table.
