The silent road to ‘amazing’ with William Carvalho and Marco Reus rumours

 santi, ozil, sanchez
2012: Cazorla
2013: Ozil
2014: Alexis
2015: Cech
It all started with the acquisition of Santi in 2012. That piece of business represented our first real world class purchase in almost five seasons, and since then we’ve been on an upward spiral, winning the Fa cup back to back, and finishing as high as we have in the league since 2004/2005 when we finished 2nd. Not to mention the 3-0 victory over Manchester City for the community shield, defeating Manchester United in Old trafford, and another victory over City in the league.

We still have work to do though and a list of areas earmarked for improvement should read like this.

– beat Chelsea under Mourinho

– Win the premier league

– Better champions league performances

– Beat Chelsea again

– Get a top center forward

– Reduce injuries

– Chelsea

And you can argue that buying Petr Cech represents Wenger’s first victory against Chelsea under Mourinho, since the Portuguese clearly resisted the move.

That said, it’s not just about Cech. What’s happening is that we have slowly but surely built a championship winning side and i truly believe that. Besides the four mecurial signings listed above, i believe that we have managed to create our own world class stars. Players like Ramsey, Koscielny, Wilshere are being courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, and its also not a stretch of the imagination to think that Bellerin, Oxlade Chamberlain and Szczesny could also develop into world beaters. Coquelin is underrated simply because of his indifferent beginnings, but i believe that boy still has much in his locker. He reminds me of Claude Makelele in some ways.

Do we maybe need one or two very good players in certain positions? the answer would be yes.

Giroud has been good for us, but we need an upgrade… Unfortunately, that could cost a lot of money, and we have to see how the club handles it. I truly don’t know who we should get, but If Marco Reus is available, then he would be my first choice.

In terms of defensive midfield, Arteta, and Flamini are the current backups to Coquelin, but i think we need a huge upgrade on that. Rumors have it that Wenger likes William Carvalho, and i think he would be a good signing. He’s 23, and still developing as a player, not to mention that the competition between he and Coq would be very healthy for the team indeed.

And listen, if we can add these players to the current squad, a manager like Arsene will win the league. He has taken a lot of stick, but i like to compare our situation to that of Ac Milan sometimes, just to put things into context. We were broke and couldn’t sign the best players, Wenger still managed to get us into the Champions league every single time. People take that for granted. Ac Milan suffered a similar fate, losing key players and signing average players, and look how it’s turned out for them. Manchester United dropped out of the first four first opportunity they got.

I think Arsene is special, and with our squad silently on the road to ‘amazing’, 2015-2016 season could be one hell of a ride for Arsenal fans. Hold on to your seats.
