Arsenal 0-2 man city: Wilshere gives me hope

We lost 2 goals to nil at the emirates today…..I lost some money in a bet as well(pain multiplied by two and raised to the 100th power)

The moment Koscielny got the red card in the 8th minute, I knew it was going to be a long game.

Sczesny gave us hope with a wonderful double save to deny Dzeko from the penalty spot, but the team structure was lost…it was only a matter of time before the extra man that city now possessed would tell on us.

Chamberlain had to be pulled off for Mertesacker.

I did not really see how we would mount a useful attack at that point, not with Walcott being so lonely up front against the no nonsense Vincent Kompany, and this was indeed the case as we had only one chance of note before city opened their account.

Wilshere took a corner, Joe Hart came out for it and punched weakly only for the ball to come into Walcott’s path, but his sliced shot was well off target.

Shortly after that, city had a free kick after a careless Podolski challenge.
Captain Vermaelen was busy complaining to the ref about something and failed to organize his defense for the free kick. He turned his back for a second after his complaints fell on deaf ears and Barry seized that opportunity to play a quick free kick. He found Silva who passed to Tevez, Tevez in turn dispatched it to Milner and the English man’s shot was terrifyingly well taken, no chance for Sczesny.

Dzeko then got another one for the citizens in the 34th minute. A great run and cross from Milner found Silva, whose shot was saved by Sczesny who could only parry into the path of the Serbian international. He tapped it in with easy.

In the second half, arsenal looked more organized. Most of the players raised their game, and we tried our best to attack but there was no way through city’s organized defense.

The rest of this post will be about Jack Wilshere, man of the match by a mile.
He decided to carry the weight of arsenal on his young shoulders.

Run after awesome run, drive after exciting drive, and he was fouled more times than Theo Walcott touched the ball today I think.

And he almost put us back in the game when his incisive through ball found Walcott, whose shot was well taken, Hart was beaten but Lescott amazingly cleared the ball off the line.

UPDATE: it was Ramsey that gave that through ball, not Wilshere(sorry about that).
But I think you get the message I’m trying to pass about Jack in this game.

By the way city got a red card of their own with ten minutes to play.
Kompany tackled Wilshere(fairly in my opinion) but the ref thought it was two-footed and too bad for Kompany, he was sent off. The equality came too late however. Arsenal were tired and there was no quality player on the bench to make a difference. That’s Wenger’s problem. I’m tired of talking about signings and contracts so I won’t talk about it.

City spent the five minutes of injury time holding possession, and so it ended………… Full time: arsenal 0-2 man city

We did not have a bad game in my opinion.
Man city are usually ruthless when they play a depleted team.
Let’s not forget they beat the crap out of man u last season when manure went a man down.
We fought valiantly like soldiers that knew they would all die but didnt give a damn…..and Jack Wilshere…..sheer class…sheer class.sheer class.
